Mazda MX-5 will lend its underpinning for the 2017 Fiat Abarth Spider 124. The elegant roadster debuted on the 1960s was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show that will be the performance version of the Spider 124. It will come with the scorpion badge, special features and stronger engine. The regular Spider 124 was introduced at the 2015 Los Angeles Show while the Spider 124 Abarth was unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
2017 Fiat Abarth Spider Exterior
The 500 Abarth inspire the 124 Abarth including a slightly updated Abarth trim interior, an athletic body kit, and tweaked version of the regular 124’s engine. There will be the touch of the original 124 Rally to add a slight of its classic Abarth tradition. The 124 Spider Abarth will arrive in European showrooms for the 2017 calendar. The 2017 Fiat Abarth Spider 124 will compete against a high-performance version of the new Miata that has been developed by Mazda. This means the Mazda’s new framework will be exploited to the greatest extend to deliver the power.
2017 Fiat Abarth Spider Drivetrain
2017 Fiat Abarth Spider 124 will be powered by a tuned 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine boosting 170 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque which is a 10 hp stronger than the regular American version, and a 22 hp and 7 lb-ft stronger than the Europe model. This unit will be equipped for the Europe Abarth version while the American convertible will be more powerful boosting more than 180 hp.
2017 Fiat Abarth Spider Interior
There will be minor changes inside the 124 Abarth and the regular 124 will lend most of the interior layout meaning it will copy the MX-5 Miata’s design. However, the 2017 Fiat Abarth Spider 124’s interior is a bit more premium with the addition of refined door panels, a leather-covered steering wheel, and the lower dashboard gets more leather layer.
