Ford has not announced anything about the 2017 Ford S-Max release date, but the early summer or spring of this year could be the time when the car will be readily available. The second generation model will be a plug-in hybrid version. Compared to its predecessor, it will be somewhat bigger and lighter and will get minors update to its exterior design. Major updates include safety and entertainment systems.
2017 Ford S-Max Exterior
The new 2017 Ford S-Max will look striking due to the sleeker styling. The premium look comes from a longer formed hood. The grille will be trapezoidal and headlamp will be slimmer. The LED technology will be added to the 4-door SUV headlights.
2017 Ford S-Max Interior
Carbon fiber material will cover the interior area while leather will cover the seats and panels. There will be dual view display for the center console so the driver and the front passenger can see and manage the function easily. Standard features include rear park sensors, roll stability and cruise control systems to increase control and stability.
Safety equipment include Traffic warning recognition, Lane Keeping Sensor, Blind Spot monitoring, and motorist warning. The new adaptive cruise control technology uses forward sensors to help drivers to keep a safe distant from the car in front. Automatic power tailgate will be added to this mid-sized 2017 Ford S-Max SUV will use a kicking gesture under the rear bumper to open or close.
2017 Ford S-Max Engine
The hybrid SUV will be powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gas engine delivering 141 horsepower and 121 pound-feet of torque and electric motor. It comes standard with a CVT automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The electrical motor mated with lithium-ion battery generating 1.4 kWh. The hybrid engine generates a total of 188 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque while fuel economy returns at 24 mpg city/33 highway/29 combined. Expect to see 2017 Ford S-Max model 4-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual transmission.
