For this model year, a complete revamp will be given for the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 similar to its sibling Silverado 1500. There will also be several refreshed, more competitive engines for the Sierra together with the new interior and exterior looks. The next gen model is expected to have a carryover after just a few years unavailable from its updates. There will be minor changes on the vehicle outside look and keep with the outgoing design. New features include a change in wheel designs and color options. 2017 GMC Sierra will get some refreshments with a few new packages. To be competitive against the Ford F-150, 2018 or 2019 model could come with major changes and aluminum body.
2017 GMC Sierra Engine
Similar to the outgoing truck, there will be the same three engine choices under the hood of 2017 GMC Sierra. A 4.3-liter V6 unit gives power for the base model that generate 285 hp while a 5.3-liter V8 will be the midrange unit delivering 355 hp. A 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine is available for the higher trims Denali and SLT. A six-speed automatic is standard and eight-speed automatic is optional. A new 10-speed automatic transmission will likely be equipped to the new Sierra 1500.
2017 GMC Sierra Interior and Release Date
There is almost no change inside the new Sierra 1500. Everything will likely stay the same though there could be some updated colors some and new trim pieces. Pricing details remain unknown, but since there is no major update, expect to see the same price tag with the outgoing model. The Base 4×2 Regular Cab start at $29,000 for the previous model truck starts while the highest trim Denali 4×4 Crew Cab costs at $55,800. The Crew Cab models of 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 will undergo production process in July 2016 while the Double and Regular Cab models will follow in September.
