The new 2017 Kia Cadenza will hit American showrooms later this year after it was unveiled at the New York Auto Show after long wait for Kia to release it. The large sedan is the corporate sibling to the Hyunday Azera so they both share the same underpinning and engine.
2017 Kia Cadenza Exterior
The car that was unveiled in Korea last November could be the same with the new Cadenza model for the exterior design. The main focus is the exterior design that is inspired by European style. Inside the car, there are no significant changes but you can see that there is less shoddy wood trim and frivolously modernized surfaces. The Novo concept car showed last year is the design closely followed by the new 2017 Kia Cadenza.
2017 Kia Cadenza Performance
A 3.3-liter V-6 engine is the same to that of Azera and it comes standard along with front-wheel-drive system identical to that in the previous year model. This is not surprising as the sedan was only released for the United States market debuting in 2013. It means it’s not really an old car but the new Cadenza is expected to be a smaller model with more fuel-efficient engine. To improve fuel economy a new 8-speed automatic transmission is added to pair the engine replacing the previous 6-speed unit.
The new Cadenza will be the first Kia car that pair 8-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel drive system. This combination will surely be followed by other models from Kia in the near upcoming years. The estimated fuel economy has not announced yet, but it is expected there will be a slight improvement over the previous model’s 28 mpg highway, 19 city, and 22 combined. For such a big sedan, the 2017 Kia Cadenza could reach highway fuel economy at 30 mpg thanks to the new automatic transmission addition.
